¿Qué es la ACP?
The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) is a program designed to help bridge the digital divide by providing affordable and reliable internet access to individuals and families who may otherwise lack access due to cost or infrastructure limitations. The program offers a range of services, including low-cost internet plans, free or discounted devices, and digital literacy training. Its goal is to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to benefit from the many opportunities that the internet provides, such as education, job opportunities, healthcare, and more. The ACP works with local governments, non-profit organizations, and internet service providers to expand internet access and create a more equitable society. The ACP was created in response to the growing recognition of the importance of internet access in modern society. While internet access has become increasingly essential for daily life, many households still lack access, particularly in low-income communities and rural areas. This digital divide can create significant barriers to education, job opportunities, and access to important services, exacerbating existing inequalities. ​To address these challenges, the ACP works to expand internet access and digital literacy in communities across the United States. The program works with a range of partners to offer affordable and reliable internet services to those who may otherwise be unable to access it. This includes low-cost internet plans, free or discounted devices, and digital literacy training to help individuals and families navigate the digital landscape. ​By providing access to the internet and digital tools, the ACP seeks to help individuals and families break down barriers to success and create new opportunities for themselves and their communities. Ultimately, the ACP envisions a future where everyone has equal access to the internet and the opportunities it provides, creating a more connected and equitable society.

Due to this funding hold the ACP enrollment process will freeze tomorrow Feb 7 2024 at 11:59pm.

Resolution to Recognize and Support the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) as Essential Infrastructure for Equitable Access to Resources

Whereas Clauses:

Whereas, the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) has been a pivotal force in diminishing the digital divide, providing essential internet access to underserved communities; and

Whereas, in our increasingly digital world, access to reliable internet is crucial for education, healthcare, and maintaining social connections; and

Whereas the unprecedented circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic have underscored the critical need for digital connectivity for remote learning, telemedicine, and virtual communication; and

Whereas equitable access to these digital resources is paramount for ensuring full participation in the 21st-century economy and society;
Be it resolved that:
1. The ACP be Recognized as Critical Infrastructure: This body recognizes the Affordable Connectivity Program as a crucial component of the nation's infrastructure, ensuring equitable access to the internet for educational, health, and social purposes.
2. Commitment to Advocacy and Funding: We commit to advocating for sustained and increased funding for the ACP to ensure its ongoing efficacy and reach.
3. Enhancing Accessibility and Awareness: This body resolves to enhance the accessibility of the ACP through simplification of application processes and amplification of public awareness campaigns, targeting the most vulnerable populations including low-income families, seniors, and residents in rural areas.
4. Encouraging Collaborative Efforts: We encourage collaboration between government bodies, educational institutions, healthcare providers, and private entities to augment the impact of the ACP, especially focusing on innovative solutions for connectivity challenges.
5. Implementing Robust Data Collection: We support establishing comprehensive data collection and reporting systems to assess the effectiveness of the ACP, ensuring its adaptation and improvement over time.
